Yesterday (November 3), the Post revealed that the DIY retailer will be closing its store in Mariners Way at the end of the year, with Homebase confirming December 31 as its last day of trading in Preston.
But staff had suggested that the store might close sooner, putting their jobs at risk just days before Christmas.

Staff at the store have said is everything is now half-price, but it is not accepting any returns.
England will enter a month-long national lockdown from midnight tonight, but essential retail will be allowed to stay open, including hardware stores, garden centres and building merchants.
The DIY chain has provided the following revised statement.
A Homebase spokesman said: "Our store in Mariners Way, Preston will be closing on December 18, 2020 and our focus is supporting our team members over the next few months.

Homebase has not provided details on how it will be "supporting staff" over the next few months. Staff say they have not been offered jobs at the new B&M store at this stage.
