Kids' thumbs-up for new premises
The 161 youngsters are finding their new school at Weeton Barracks bright, roomy and a pleasure to learn in.
They have hopped across from their old school on the barracks to the new purpose-built building, built by contractors on behalf of Lancashire County Council, which comes with new playing fields and a kitchen where their meals can be freshly prepared every day.

“They are enjoying their new playground and classrooms but they are particularly enjoying their lunches.
“All the hot meals are prepared in the kitchens at school and the children say they are nicer.
“We have the same number of classrooms but there’s more room and it’s much easier to move around.
“We are ready now for the next 50 years.”
It took 12 months to construct the building and the school now has the capacity to increase the number of pupils attending it to 210.
