Pupils' growing interest in food
The town’s Methodist Junior School has received a grant to install a potting shed and four raised beds at the front of the Canberra Road premises.
They will be used to encourage pupils to become more interested in where their food comes from and to build on their efforts in last years event.

Hide AdCoun Matthew Tomlinson, chairman of governors at the school, said: “The pupils really enjoyed taking part in last years competition.
“The planters we put in place certainly helped brighten the place up too.”
“In order to build on the enthusiasm of last summer we decided to make a real statement about how we can promote children’s interest in how things grow and by placing the potting shed and raised beds at the front of the school, it has enabled us to bring into use a formerly lawned area while at the same time really raising the profile of this important part of our school life.
“It’s certainly made an impact and I have had lots of positive comments from passers by.”
