During the month of June, seven nurseries and schools in Preston and its surrounding areas had Ofsted reports published online.
This included three nursery schools, one primary, one secondry, one further educatonal college and one independent specialist school, across Preston, Chorley and Leyland.
Of these establishments, four were classed as ‘good’, whilst one ‘requires improvement’ and two were ‘outstanding’.

2. TicTots Day Nursery & Creche, within Total Fitness, Preston
Report published June 13 following an inspection on May 5. Classed as 'good'. Highlights: children's uniqueness celebrated; "huge attention" given to combat effects of pandemic on socialisation; broad curriculum. Improvements needed: occasionally, staff do not model the correct pronunciation of words; the implementation of some activities means that some children become distracted.. Previous inspection: Good. 3. Walton-Le-Dale High School
Report published June 22, following an inspection on March 15 and 16 . Classed as 'requires improvement' . Highlights: improved since last inspection, especially behaviour and personal development; high ambitions for SEND pupils; governing body with wide expertise. Improvements needed: some teachers do not use assessment strategies well enough to find out what pupils know; teachers do not always choose the most appropriate activities to deliver the curriculum effectively; reading needs to be prioritised more.
