"A terrible sight": Neighbours’ shock as four-year-old boy is seriously injured falling from window in Preston

Emergency services were called to Skeffington Road, Preston, at 11.20am on Thursday, to reports of a young child badly hurt on the ground.
After he was assessed by paramedics, the boy was flown by air ambulance to the Manchester Children’s Hospital for treatment to a serious head injury.

The police said no arrests have been made and the incident is being treated as accidental.
How has the community reacted?
It is thought that neighbours have offered help to the family, including looking after other children while parents attended hospital.
One close neighbour said: “I heard a noise and came to see what was going on at the front, and there were police cars and ambulances everywhere.
"The boy was lying on the floor screaming and a woman was trying to calm him, almost wrestling him to be still.

Hide Ad"There were loads of people about, people on mobile phones, and I felt like I needed to do something, but what help could I be?
"It was a terrible sight.”
Another neighbour, who lives on the opposite side of the road, said: “I saw the boy at the window. I went off to see to my daughter and the next thing, there were all these sirens.
"The emergency services came very quickly.”
Another neighbour said: “I just hope that lad is going to be ok. It’s shocked everyone and we’re all thinking of him and his family.
"I was out at the time and when I came back to see ambulances racing down the street.”
