Cadets gunning to be best of British
The teenagers from city’s detachment have been selected to represent the North West in the famous Gibraltar Cup competition this weekend with the aim of being judged best of British.
The Preston cadets will do battle against five other regional groups at the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon starting tomorrow.

Hide AdPreston last won the cup in 1985. And detachment commander Sgt Keith Dowd, who was part of the winning team 32 years ago, said: “If any group of cadets could bring the Gibraltar Cup back to Preston, it’s this group.”
The six teams, nominated from 135 detachments nationwide, will be asked to navigate their way across challenging moorland and be assessed on a variety of skills by serving Royal Marines.
Coomanding Officer Sub Lieutenant Wayne Warner added: “This is testament to the hard work put in by the cadets. I am extremely proud of them.”
