Charities cheque out with supermarket cash boost
The store, off Ordnance Road at Buckshaw Village, has a close relationship with a number of local charitable groups and decided to give three of them a cash boost of £750 each as a way to say thank you.
Store manager Paul Stopforth, said: “Tesco really values its links with the community and these groups do valuable work.

Derian House Children’s Hospice, based at Astley Village, provides respite and palliative support in Lancashire for families of children with life-shortening conditions.
Sophie Sunders, fund-raising manager at Derian House, said: “The support from our local Tesco at Buckshaw Village has been fantastic.
“We cannot thank Paul and his team enough for all that they have done for us.

Hide Ad“This money will go some way to helping us achieve our fund-raising target of £3.75m this year so we are able to provide 24-hour care and support to families facing some of their most difficult times.”
Chorley Lions Club also received £750. The group, which helps people across Chorley by making donations itself.
Lions spokesman John Lashmar said: “Once again we are indebted to Paul and his team at Tesco Chorley Buckshaw for their continued support with our fund-raising activities.
“Many people contact us when they are in great need and it is a real boost to receive £750 which we will use wisely to help others.”

Hide AdSt Catherine’s Hospice at Lostock Hall, supports around 2,000 patients a year and gets a huge amount of support from 700 volunteers.
Kath Lane, from the hospice, said: “We really appreciate the support of Tesco at Chorley Buckshaw and £750 is a generous donation towards our costs.
“The store has a great community ethos and we enjoy working with them and thank them for all they do.”
