Arrests made after men are seen armed with samurai sword in Chorley

Police responded with armed officers after two men were spotted in Devonport Road - one brandishing a samurai sword and the other armed with a spade.
Prior to this, at 6.45am, police were called to a report of a car that had been set on fire across the road in Ward Street, where the fire had spread to a nearby home.

Hide AdTwo men, both aged 28 and from Chorley, have been arrested and are currently in custody.
One has been arrested for arson and affray and the other for affray, arson and possession of an offensive weapon.
Devonport Road and Ward Street are situated on either side of Eaves Lane, where a 32-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his chest on Sunday (March 21).
The man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Hide AdWe have asked Lancashire Police whether today's incidents are believed to be related to Sunday's stabbing. We are awaiting a response.
Following today's incidents, the force said it has stepped up its patrols around Eaves Lane.
A police spokesman said: "There is an increased police presence in Chorley this morning and we just wanted to let you know what is going on.
"Following police enquiries two men were seen on Devonport Road, one armed with a spade and the other with what was believed to be a samurai sword.
