Body found in water in Southport
Merseyside Police is treating the death as unexplained and investigations are underway to establish the cause of death.
The man is yet to be identified.
A spokesman for the constabulary said: “Merseyside Police can confirm enquiries are underway following the discovery of a man’s body in water in Southport this morning.

Hide Ad“Emergency services were called at around 10.10am to Banks Road to a report that the body of a man had been seen in nearby water.
“Officers, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Coastguards attended and the man was removed from the water and pronounced dead.
“At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and a post mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform next of kin.”

Hide AdA passerby told the Post: “Just been walking around pumping station at Banks.
“There was a dinghy in the water and several gowned up forensic officers and uniformed police at the scene.
“It would appear that they have recovered a body from the sluice.”
