Lancashire family rescued by police on snow hit Snake Pass after travelling to walk in the Peak District

As temperatures plunged in the snow hit area, the freezing family were grateful when officers from Derbyshire Police came to their aid.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Roads said on Twitter: “Family from Lancashire out walking in the Peaks which is allowed, although not ideal. Return to the car and they've lost the keys.

“You can travel for exercise. The distance travelled is not defined in law but guidelines are you stay local. These individuals have put themselves and consequently others at increased risk due to the distance travelled. Please think.”
The notorious route between Glossop and Sheffield is currently open.
