Firefighters respond to ‘chemical leak’ at Walton Summit Industrial Estate in Bamber Bridge as safety cordon put in place

Three fire engines from Leyland and Preston attended a “hazardous materials incident” in Brierley Road shortly after 10.55am on Monday (July 18).
The incident involved a “chemical leak”, according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Hide Ad“Firefighters are working with United Utilities and other partners to make the scene safe,” a spokesman added.
“No injuries have been reported.”
The incident reportedly involved a tanker that had leaked, according to eyewitness reports.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “We are attending in an advisory capacity to ensure there is no adverse effect on the drainage network.
“This has not affected drinking water supplies in the area.”

Hide AdA 50m safety cordon was put in place near Evans Vanodine International as firefighters washed down the tanker and the surrounding area.
A number of police vehicles also attended to block off a section of Brierley Road.
Firefighters remained in attendance for approximately five and a half hours.
