French refugees to get helping hand from Preston group
Members of the Light Foundation, will head to Calais later this week with donations to give to supporting charities as well as engaging with those in need.
The group has previously taken supplies over to the ongoing Humanitarian crisis known as ‘The Jungle’ and say this time they want to take cash as well as giving the locals hope and reassurance.

Hide AdMoney donated will be given to distribution warehouses ran by volunteers and food kitchens and co-founder of the organisation Nadeem Ashfaq says they hope to provide as much comfort and friendship as they can.
He said: “We’ve been three times before and we’ve always aimed to take a cross-section of different religions and ages. This time we won’t be taking any goods with us, just donations. That’s because we want to be able to engage with the refugees staying there and unloading vans and distributing the goods was taking up most of our time. There’s lots of suicides going on because people just feel like they haven’t got any other option, they feel like they haven’t got any hope and we want to reassure them things will get better.”
The group say the response to its previous three visits has been “phenomenal and overwhelming” and will now travel out to the French city for the fourth time this Friday, staying until Saturday evening.
