Morecambe lifeboat crews search for over two hours for missing kayaker in the sea

Her Majesty’s Coastguard requested RNLI assistance after reports of an upturned kayak off shore at Middleton sands.
Deputy Launch Authority Justin Mawtus authorised the launch of the inshore lifeboat.

Hide AdRNLI crews went to the scene at 10:51am on Monday November 2.
Under the helm of Trevor McMeeking alongside his crew they conducted a shoreline search off the coast.
This was from the stone jetty up to the river Lune.
The crew worked alongside the Coastguard who conducted a shoreline search looking for a potential person in the water.
At 12:22pm the search was completed following no reports of anyone missing and a thorough search completed.

Hide AdThe lifeboat crew returned to base and the boat prepared again ready for the next call to service.
Justin Mawtus Deputy Launch Authority said: “As we enter another uncertain time with the next lockdown on the imminent horizon, we at Morecambe RNLI remain steadfast in being called upon when we are needed.”
