New partnership helps working carers
North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, in partnership with North Tyneside Council, is delivering fortnightly carers’ surgeries to employees who are juggling work with their caring roles.
The surgeries, open to staff who work for the council and its partners, offer working carers the chance to access information, advice and guidance on issues which may be affecting them at work or home.

Hide AdClaire Easton, North Tyneside Carers’ Centre manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer support to working carers both within the council and for their partners.
“It is early days for the surgeries but we are encouraged by the response so far.
“We are aware of the risks to any business when it loses trained, dedicated staff and equally the difficulties a working carer can face trying to manage work alongside a caring role. We are determined to do all that we can to support working carers to remain in work.”
The Carers’ Centre is currently working with targeted employers but if any other employers within North Tyneside are interested in getting involved in the project they should contact Alexis Brown on 0191 643 2284.
