Singing and dancing at Morecambe care home keeps residents entertained

It was the first time Tash Butler had gone to the care home and entertained the residents, which she did with an energetic and lively performance.
MD Josh Wilson said: "Tash usually entertains at schools and children's parties but we arranged for her to come down to The Sands and entertain the residents.

Hide Ad"We've had to be a bit more creative and come up with more ideas to keep the residents safe but keep them entertained as well.
"We got them outside, following government guidelines on social distancing, and kept the positivity going.
"They loved it, everyone was dancing away, it was really good.
"We sent Tash some suggestions for songs, some of the residents' favourites, and Tash came up with some of them herself, she picked a good mix and it was a good balance.

Hide Ad"The residents could reminisce with some of the songs as well, they love the old songs.
"It was so successful that Tash will be entertaining the residents at our sister home in Hest Bank tomorrow for VE Day. Of course maintaining social distancing and keeping the residents safe.
"We are trying to keep as much positivity going as we can, the staff have been really brilliant, it has been a big team effort.
"We have had to be more creative as to how we entertain the residents.

Hide Ad"We've had donations almost daily from cakes, sweets and chocolates, to scones donated by Marks and Spencer.
"People have been sending cards to the residents. I can't praise the local community enough.
"It is a concerning time for everyone so we just try and keep spirits up as much as possible.
"I always knew we have a good team and the staff have been great to think of new, creative ways to keep the residents happy.

Hide Ad"For VE Day at The Sands Meadows care home in Hest Bank, they are having a garden party and entertainment from Tash Butler.
"Here at The Sands we will have the minute's silence on the promenade and a party in the home with decorations and activities."
