Wyre and Preston North MP Ben Wallace has ruled himself out of the contest to become Conservative leader and Prime Minister.

Mr Wallace, who is the Defence Secretary, has seen his stock rise among party members because of his handling of the Ukraine crisis and was highly tipped in polls to replace Boris Johnson.

But he was quick to end any such speculation when he used social media today (Saturday July 9) to rule himself out.
