Photos: Burnley and Padiham flooding
Worst hit was Padiham town centre where the water was three feet deep after the River Calder burst its banks overnight on Christmas Day.
Water poured into the town hall, shops and businesses and the fire station was also flooded. Then hundreds of homes were hit by a power cut at noon.

Hide AdOne of the businesses worst hit was Vanilla hair salon in Burnley Road. Owner Victoria Holland turned up at the premises in time to get chairs and equipment upstairs out of teach of the flood water. She was helped by senior stylist Jodie Forrest and her husband Adam.
Jodie said: “The water was up to my knees , I have never seen anything like it but luckily we managed to salvage a lot of items.
“We put out an appeal on facebook for people to come and help and once they saw how bad it was they came.’’
Gardens were washed away in Printers Fold when Green Brook, that runs through it, rose and a retaining wall collapsed.

Hide AdResidents used sandbags to protect their hiomes,moving items of furniture and other items upstairs to safety.
Resident Mrs Ceri Carmichael said: “The wall has gone completely and everything that fell into the brook is now clogging it up.
“We just hope the rain stops.’’
The road outside the George 4th pub in Burnley’s Padiham Road, Burnley, was also flooded right up to St Joseph’s Primary School.
