Residents in a froth over new micropub
The proposed Weavers Arms in Bamber Bridge looks set for refusal by South Ribble’s planning committee on Wednesday because neighbours are in a real froth over the plan.
Yet another similar venture, further along Station Road, is expected to be nodded through at the same meeting.

Hide AdCouncillors will be told 20 residents have objected to the Weavers Arms plan in a former fishing tackle shop. A petition from 11 others from outside the area has also been submitted calling for it to be refused.
But only one complaint has been received opposing the other micropub in the former Northwest Domestics shop opposite a long-establish public house.
A report to the committee says the Weavers Arms should be refused because it has failed “to demonstrate that internal and external use of the premises by virtue of noise, increased use and activity would not have an adverse impact on the amenities of neighbouring properties.”
Two outside decking areas were a major concern for neighbours. Residents felt noise from the pub and its outdoor areas would be disruptive and there could be a potential for anti-social behaviour.

But officers said the other proposed micropub would not “unduly impact” on neighbouring residents. Nor was there any evidence it would create anti-social behaviour. Only one objection had been received - and that had come from an adjacent convenience store.
