Sainsbury's collect for Heartbeat
Supermarket collections from Sainsbury’s in Penwortham have raised almost £900 for Heartbeat.Over the last 12 months, generous customers and helpful staff raised a total of £882.78 for the heart charity.David Binns, manager of the Sainsbury’s store, said: “We are always happy to add our support to this fantastic cause, where local people benefit from the community support given at their local convenience store. Well done to all involved.”Lynn Preston, from Heartbeat’s fund-raising team, said: “Heartbeat would like to thank everybody who was involved. This amount of money could provide 20 local people 10 weeks cardiac rehabilitation in Penwortham.“Each week Heartbeat supports more than 800 local people with cardiac rehabilitation sessions in Preston and the surrounding areas which currently costs nearly £1m per year, all of which needs to come from voluntary donations. “Supermarket collections help us to raise vital funds and awareness of heart disease amongst the local community. One in four people in Lancashire are affected by heart disease so working with companies like Sainsbury’s really does help us help us to make a big difference in our local community.”
