Students' tributes after death of popular lecturer
The University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) tourism, hospitality and event management classes of 2016 have started fund-raising in memory of Lynn Train, who died last week.
They described the academic as a “maternal figure” who believed students were the future, and have so far raised more than £850 of their £1,000 target, which is to be donated to charity.

Hide AdA Go Fund Me page online says Lynn died peacefully two days after this year’s “high-achieving” graduations, which she was unable to attend.
It says: “(Lynn) and her husband Rod, the leader of the event management BA course, were a united team.
“Always to be found together, they offered help and assistance to any student who needed it. Many of us entered into their offices feeling panicked and overwhelmed, and left again feeling reassured.
“Lynn believed that the students were the future, and that we had the power and ability to influence the world for the better.”
