Summer beach ban imposed on dogs
Warning signs are being erected at the entrances to beaches across the borough of Scarborough to warn pet owners that the ban on dogs will come into force on Sunday.
The restrictions will be imposed until September 30 at Scarborough’s South Bay as well as in Filey, at Whitby’s West Beach and in Sandsend.

Officials have warned that Scarborough Borough Council’s dog warden team will be patrolling the beaches to make sure pet owners are not flouting the restrictions.
Anyone caught with a dog on the beaches where restrictions are in place has been warned that they face prosecution and fines running into hundreds of pounds.
Council officials have, however, stressed other beaches in the borough will remain open for dog-walking, although owners will still need to clear up any fouling from their pets.
