Preston crash sees police close Blackpool Road both ways

Blackpool Road was closed both ways in Ashton whilst police, ambulance and fire crews attended the scene at around 4am.
Lancashire Police said the crash happened after officers gave chase to a Renault Scenic with a woman behind the wheel. Whilst being pursued, she appears to have lost control and hit a wall in Blackpool Road.

Hide AdThe 27-year-old from Kirkham was injured and taken to hospital, but police say her injuries are not thought to be serious.
She was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop and driving without insurance.
A second woman – a passenger in the Renault – also suffered minor injuries and received treatment from ambulance crews.
Blackpool Road was closed both ways between Tulketh Road and Pedders Lane whilst emergency services worked at the scene.

Hide AdAt 11.30am, police said a partial road closure remained in place. Traffic is coping well but police are advising people to avoid the area until further notice.
A police spokesman said: “At 3.50am today (December 29) our officers attempted to stop a Renault Scenic.
"Following a short pursuit the Renault collided with a wall in Blackpool Road, Preston.
“A woman has been taken to hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be serious.
