Two men from Preston are fined and escorted out of Lake District by police
This morning (May 9), officers in Cumbria stopped two men in a Vauxhall who had driven to the Lakes from Preston.
Officers fined both men after they explained that they had 'just nipped for a drive out' to enjoy the Lakeland scenery.

Hide AdThe men were told to turn around and were escorted back to the southbound M6 for a return trip to Preston.
The officers shared their frustration with those flouting lockdown with a post on Twitter.
It said: "Two lads from Preston escorted out of the county and issued tickets for breaching Covid restrictions.
"Just a drive out is not an essential journey."
The force has also fined a number of other people who made the trip to the Lake District this bank holiday weekend.

Hide AdThis afternoon, officers in Cumbria stopped a family from Wigan on the A591 at Windermere.
Again, officers were casually told that the family had been "just out for a drive", despite the highly publicised warnings about non-essential travel.
The family were issued with fines for flouting the lockdown and escorted out of the area.
Elsewhere on the M6 near Lancashire, traffic officers stopped a car heading north at junction 43.

Hide AdThe officers found that a family of four had been heading from London to Motherwell, Scotland for a three-day break - an 800 mile round trip!
All four family members have been reported for breach of lockdown regulations and advised to return to London.
