Woman comes forward to police after toddler is struck by car in Longridge

An 18-month-old boy was left needing hospital treatment after he was struck in Chatburn Road, near the Preston Road roundabout, at 12.39pm on Friday (December 11).
Police said the car then left the scene before officers arrived and a public appeal was issued yesterday to help find the driver.

Hide AdThe injured youngster was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with a broken ankle, but has since been discharged and is continuing his recovery at home.
This morning (Monday, December 15), Lancashire Police confirmed that a woman has since come forward and will be interviewed by officers.
A police spokesman said: "Further to yesterday’s appeal where we were asking for the driver of a car involved in a collision with an 18-month-old boy in Longridge to come forward, we can now confirm a woman has been in contact and will be spoken to in due course.
"Thank you to everybody who shared and supported our appeal."

Hide AdYesterday, PC Mike Smith, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: "A little boy has been left with a serious injury and at this stage we are trying to establish what happened.
"We really need to speak to the driver of this white vehicle and I would appeal directly to that person to make contact with police as soon as possible.
"I would also ask for anybody with information or dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident to come forward."
