Met Office issues warning for snow and ice across Lancashire tonight

A yellow weather warning is in place across the North West, with snow forecast from 8pm.
Snow is forecast to fall between 8pm and 10am tomorrow, with the wintry conditions expected to cause some travel disruption during the morning rush hour.

Hide AdThe forecaster said showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail and snow at times, with the snow mostly over higher ground.
It said some places are likely to see 1-3 cm of snow, mainly above 200 m, with 4-8 cm possible over the higher ground in North West England.

Travel disruption expected
The Met Office said the snow and ice could lead to icy patches on untreated surfaces overnight, leading to dangerous conditions on roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Hide AdIt said some roads and railways are likely to be affected and is advising commuters to prepare for longer journey times by road, bus and train.
North West affected
Lancashire is expected to receive the brunt of the snow fall, with it most likely to fall over the county's higher ground.
Blackpool, Preston, Ribble Valley, Blackburn with Darwen, Lancaster, Morecambe and Cumbria are expected to experience some snow.
The yellow weather warning is also in place for Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
