Preston boxer Scott Fitzgerald to fight in May with a possible rematch against either Anthony Fowler and Ted Cheeseman lined-up for later this year

The former British super welterweight champion is set to appear on the undercard of the heavyweight clash between Dereck Chisora and Joseph Parker on May 1, the venue has yet to be announced.
The Larches and Savick ABC ace has not fought since beating Ted Cheeseman on points to win the Lonsdale belt in October 2019.

Hide AdSince then, he has been grounded due to a number of personal issues and the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the ex-Commonwealth Games champion will be able to blow the cobwebs off when he gets back in the ring for the first time in more than 18 months.
He could face a further fight later in the summer before a potential blockbuster rematch against either former Team GB sparring partner Anthony Fowler or Cheeseman.
Fitzgerald clashed with Fowler in early 2019, the Preston puncher pulling off a fantastic victory on points after flooring his arch rival in the final round.

Hide AdThe fight was billed as one of the best of the year and the defeat inflicted on Fowler was the first of his professional career.
Since losing, Fowler has racked-up five wins, including beating Blackpool veteran Brian Rose in 2019 and most recently knocking out Jorge Fortea this month.
Another possibility for Fitzgerald is fighting Cheeseman, who has reclaimed the British title after beating James Metcalf at the weekend.
