A slow start for the Lilywhites, combined with some sloppy marking from a corner, allowed Bristol to take an early lead with a fine headed goal past debutant PNE keeper Daniel Iversen.

Alex Neil revealed later that Pearson is looking to move on and so he needed to get his replacement out on the pitch and in the thick of it as soon as possible.

He’s a different kind of midfielder than Whiteman, being more attack minded, and was not afraid to have a go with some forward surges.
