Beware ghastly fowl play
Half-term events kick off with the eagerly anticipated return to Brockholes of Wild About: Birds of Prey (tomorrow 11am-3pm). Falconer Richard Cookson, from Cuerden Birds of Prey, will be present with a collection of owls, hawks and vultures on display.
The centre will be running a series of related drop-in crafts and activities for everyone to enjoy too.

Hide AdTomorrow (Saturday, October 26) also sees the week long Pumpkin Carving Competition get underway too.
You can either bring your own or join in the fun on-site, where there are pumpkins (£3 each) and a carving kit (£2 each). All pumpkins must be dropped off by 2pm the following Sunday. Age groups are as follows: under 12’s, 12-15, 15-18 & over 18’s.
Things turn spooky next week at The Monster’s Ball (Wednesday and Thursday 5-7pm).
The Monster’s Ball is a Halloween party for children aged 6-11, that includes a ghost walk on the reserve.

Hide AdHalloween itself sees an hour of Creepy Tales of Ghosts and Witches (Thursday 2-3pm, £3/Family £10)!
These spine-tingling stories will get you in the Halloween mood and are suitable for all ages.
The Halloween activities don’t end there though, as next Friday is Wild Families: Halloween Special (2-4pm).
Half term will finish with a second Wild Families event – Stick Man on November 2.
